The V&A Design Museum, Dundee, Scotland, Winter

·289 words·2 mins

It wasn’t entirely perfect weather during our week off.

On the rainier, blustery days we crossed East Neuk north over the Firth of Tay to Scotland’s 4th biggest city, Dundee.

Dundee was known for its historic industries of jute, whaling, and marmalade. Thus it experienced massive growth in the 1800s and early 1900s. However, the decline of these industries led to economic challenges.

Today, Dundee is undergoing a revival, focusing on technology, science, and tourism. The V&A Dundee museum plays a key role in attracting visitors and promoting the city’s cultural transformation, and the city has also established itself as a sort of mecca for the gaming industry and gaming design.

We meandered around the city where we could, indulging in a wee bit of shopping, checking out the lovely cafes, and nabbing some photos in between downpours. I even treated myself to a shave and trim at Turkish barbers.

All photos taken on my Sony α7ii using my Sony 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS zoom and Rokinon 14mm f2.8 ED AS IF UMC prime lenses. RAWs developed in Lightroom, merged in Photomatix, and edited and finalised in Photoshop.
